Must See HGTV

Daddy got Harper to laugh!
I mean belly laugh... We thought her brain was going to explode laughter.
Do not watch while drinking any thing or it will come out your nose.
This is a snippet of a 4 min long session.

16 Weeks: Grabbing Hair, Eating Shoulders and a Visit from Auntie Whalen

One day down to recoup from CA and our little angel is starting to show the wears of travel, teething and surviving NY heat.

This has been a week of growing pains. Harper is now not only reaching out but grabbing and pulling whatever she can into her mouth. I still can't see a bump anywhere, but there are teeth coming for sure. Still having a hard time discerning whether she's got mouth pains or tummy pains since she seems to cringe in her body as well as shove her fist in her mouth. At times, I get frustrated cause I don't know how to make my baby happy.

The shining light this week has been a visit for Auntie Whalen from LA. She got here late Saturday night, just in time for some awesome Memorial Day Weekend weather and therefore BBQs.

15 Weeks: Have Harper, Will Travel

My daughter is awesome! She traveled to CA like a seasoned vet. She was the best behaved babe onboard. She handled the three hour time difference like it was nothing! She slept well each night and was an angel each day. My awe in her is unending.
Friday morning we flew to CA. Her Grandparents Wax were so excited to see her. Grammie came into the terminal and couldn't wait to get H in her arms. Grandpa Wax met us outside with a sign: Welcome to California, Harper! Very sweet.

Friday night we took it easy, because what a weekend we had in store....
Saturday morning we had a lovely surprise: Great Aunt Debby flew in from Pasadena to meet Harper! Saturday afternoon Auntie Kristie picked Harper, Debby and me up and we went to a gorgeous bridal shower in Atherton for Lauren B. (Congrats Lauren & Glen!) It was so lovely to see her, her family and friends, and introduce Miss Harper to the bunch. Saturday evening we had a BBQ at Auntie Kristie's house with a few friends and of course it was very momentous to introduce Harper to her Uncle Chris and her cousins Drew & Matthew. They all got a long very well. It was super cute. Thanks for a great party!

Cousin Matty is learning how to stand!

Sunday, another 90+ degree day, we had a get together with 50 of our closest friends to bring Harper into the fold. It was a great party and so wonderful to see all the other kids Harper will be running around with soon enough.

Monday we loaded up two cars and went to the SF Zoo. It was 40 degrees cooler by the ocean! Harper slept the entire time, but we still took some cute pictures.

Monday night we headed back to the Peninsula for one last dinner with the whole family.

Tuesday Grammie and Harper got a day to themselves. Wednesday morning we went to our friend Patrick's Pre-School Graduation, then headed to RWC to visit Kathy B. and on the way home we met Bailey and Aimee for a much needed coffee.

Happy Mother's Day! Harper is 3 months old!

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms who read this!
I've never before appreciated just how much work it is being a mommy. This year I have really learned to embrace my capacity to love and my strength to endure all that is required of motherhood ...and support and appreciate all the other women attempting the same feat. Moms Rock!

I very much enjoyed our lovely little Mother's Day. We went to brunch at an out-of-the-way spot, so instead of a crowded din, we were had a sunny, outdoor patio all to ourselves for most the meal! It was truly delightful.
Digging the outfits on this super Sunday

Nate gave me a beautiful pair of earrings...gold and amethyst (For Harper's birthmonth - February) which I promptly put on and modeled at the next stop - a family friendly tapas bar where I celebrated being a mom with some bubbly.

We then headed home to hang out in the garden. It was a gorgeous sunny day. The flowers were in bloom. So we stayed out the rest of the afternoon and Nate BBQ'd some steak and bought my favorite Rioja for dinner. He's the most wonderful husband ever. And of course, Harper was a little angel all day too.

Harper is really beginning to blossom. She still babbles quite a bit. She's begun reaching and sitting up and she often sports the "white man's over-bite", sucking on her bottom lip. I'm convinced she's teething now since has started chomping instead of sucking on her pacifier. We're looking forward to coming out to California to meet the extended family/friend network. Not so much looking forward to the flight, but I'm sure H will do great. We haven't gotten a solid giggle out of her since last week...and it's not for a lack of trying...

12 Weeks: Giggles and Teeth?

This week had some ups and downs. We were able to capture Harper's newest accomplishment, giggling! It's an elusive thing. Shimmying with hands up over her head and peek-a-boo with a blanket have had the greatest success rate.

Also this week there has been excessive drooling, general fussiness (she usually only fusses when she needs something), and constant shoving of hands in her mouth... I think we're starting to see signs that the teething process has begun. And that pretty much stinks, 'cause everything has been going so well and now we have to watch our little angel suffer threw this for the next two years. Yuck. At least we have this video to cheer us up...

I don't know who's having more fun: Harper or her daddy

Saturday, we ended up having to cancel our Derby Party. It was a popular weekend and all but about 5 people had other plans. So instead of our usual blow-out we had just one family over to watch the race. Amit and Chetna and their beautiful girls, Aryana and Anika were able to meet Harper and we spent a lovely afternoon watching the girls play. And what an incredible race!!!
