7 Weeks & Already a Girl About Town

Harper had a very busy weekend and start of the week.

Harper had her first Brunch where she met the whole ex-WIB crew at Bar Tabac in Cobble Hill. No need for a stroller here, we simply Bjorned her to the restaurant and passed her around the table. Everyone was very happy to finally meet her. We missed Julie, Matt & their baby, Vaughn (the couple who happened to be due 3 days before we were and up and moved in the middle or our pregnancies...oh the playdates we could be sharing with our girls!)

Saturday night, the infamous Will came to town (yet another friend who has abandoned us for the Midwest). Will flew in from Cincinnati on Saturday and seemed smitten right away. Harper was so well behaved she even joined us for dinner...in her bouncy chair.

Sunday night we went to dinner in the neighborhood. Harper was a perfect angel and slept the entire time. Of course she didn't see that she was missing anything.

Monday was a busy day too...we went to a new mom's drop-in at the hospital where she was born uptown, a mommy & me yoga class in the West Village and then we had lunch with Will in Nolita. Again, Harper displayed her ability to be awesome no matter what the circumstances. This includes being fed in a public bathroom and having her diaper changed at Crate and Barrel in SoHo. Her mom was truly amazed and appreciative.

Fun filled weekend

Nate watched after Harper while Karen went to brunch at Mesa Grill with their friend, Carrie visiting from Houston, Carrie's sister, Julee, who lives in NYC and Julee's boyfriend, Brad.
It was a lovely meal and it was great to be out and about.
Harper behaved well for Nate who was busy preparing dinner for that night when Carrie, Julee and Brad would be coming over to meet Harper for the first time.

Sunday we had our first BBQ of 2009 with Marc & Charlotte and finally got to break open a bottle of bubbly we bought and brought to the hospital but never drank (since champagne doesn't do well with post-op meds)

Good Morning!

H waves hello and I'm pretty sure we can say her first word is "HI!"

The Perfect Day

In the morning, Karen and Harper were visited by two lovely ladies, Brooke and Corrine.

By the afternoon it was 60 degrees (that's warm here!) so Nate came home early and we strolled Harper down to a family friendly wine bar and had wine and tapas in the afternoon sun. This is big, people! This was our 1st foray out to a public eatery as a family. And it was a great success.

Karen felt like a big girl.

Harper enjoyed a bottle as much as her mommy did.

And was an angel before and after.

Then, that night we all slept for 5 hrs straight!

It was the perfect day.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

In an old Irish tradition, Harper vomited all over her St. Paddy's Day shirt today. But not before her mom snapped some photos of how cute she was in her outfit.

This week, Harper and mom went to their first yoga class post-natal. The sleeping did not last, but hey, it was good to be out of the house.

5 weeks old and Harper is growing so fast! She's already too big for newborn diapers and some of her newborn clothes. I'm afraid she only has a few more naps left in her Moses basket. It's too bad we're losing it's portability, our neighbors are building onto the brownstone next door and it's increasingly hard to drown out the sounds of construction...the ocean waves can only be turned up so loud before it begins to sound scary instead of soothing. Hopefully the weather will turn warm soon and she can nap daily in the sun while taking a stroll.

In nightly news, H has begun allowing 5 hrs in between her evening feedings. Though she's not asleep for in between times, her mom has at least gotten solid 3 and 4 hours of sleep (in a row) this week! She's currently dreaming of a 5 hr stretch...that would be the life.

That's about all the news from here. But do check out the photos of March, many sweet smiling action shots of Miss H.

Thank you all for all the beautiful gifts you've been sending Harper. She'll probably be able to write before I get the thank you notes out. Please know that Nate, Harper and I know we are so blessed to have so many generous friends who love us.

Lots of love to you,
Karen, Nate & Harper

One Month Old!

Harper is now 4 weeks old! She's really starting to smile (mostly in the morning and when falling asleep). She's in love with her changing table and totally smitten with a photo of her cousin Drew in a froggie costume from Halloween. She loves to kick her legs, always has to have one hand free from her swaddle, and is starting to get more and more vocal. She's also been allowing 4 hrs between nightly feedings (which means mom gets at least 5 hrs of sleep a night)!

Harper is currently 9 lbs. 12 oz. (78th percentile) and 22.5 inches tall (90th percentile). She's long and lean like her folks.

This week Harper met her beautiful Auntie Kristie, who flew in from SF for four days (leaving behind her two beautiful boys, well, three, if you count her husband too). Kristie was here for quite a lot of firsts...
Meeting Auntie Kristie

1st stroll in Snap-n-go (on the Promenade)

1st subway ride (to Grand Central)

...and 1st rock concert

Pretty in Pink

Harper is growing so much. She's finally fitting the newborn clothes...well except these pants, but they're just too cruise-wear fun for words. She's starting to coo and I thought I saw the start of a social smile this morning. Pics don't do her justice, she's so much sweeter in person.

Harper's 1st webcam

She's so amazing, she even waves "hello"!
